Photograph By Adam Scotti of the Prime Minister’s office.
Victoria photojournalist Ted Grant, in Ottawa to be invested into the Order of Canada, poses with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the famous photo Grant took of Pierre Trudeau sliding down a banister in 1968.
When Ted told me he was to receive the Order of Canada, he mentioned he would like to present Prime Minister Trudeau with a copy of his iconic photo of Pierre Trudeau from 1968. I happened to have the rescanned digital file I had done when I printed Ted’s retrospective show for the Leica Gallery in New York a few years back. I suggested he have me do a print using a special b&w printing process known as Piezography, which uses 7 shades of carbon based selenium toned inks. The resulting print is quite lovely and Ted tells me the Prime Minister was thrilled, as up to now he’s never had a copy of this famous image.
